Every teacher dreads the annual PDP Goal that they have to create... myself included. This year my team had found a book "Shifting the Balance: 6 Ways to Bring the Science of Reading into the Balanced Literacy Classroom." I will be honest... it was a book that sat on my nightstand untouched for months. About three days before I knew my team had to meet and discuss the book I thought it would be a good idea to "skim" through it in order to bring a few ideas to the table. Little did I know, the joke was on me. I was so hooked that I pulled out my highlighted and started dog earring every other page. I read the entire text in two days and I was hooked.
